our research: industry first studies on fresh & aged vitamin c serum
Honored and Excited to Share our Research
MATTER OF FACT was selected to present at the inaugural International Societies for Investigative Dermatology (ISID) conference after having our abstracts published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology (JID), a peer-reviewed, high-impact medical journal. JID is one of the most-cited journals in the field of dermatology and has been in publication since 1938. We were honored to be in the company of so many industry giants and contribute to the global skin research community!
Rigorous Testing
Pure Vitamin C, also known as L-Ascorbic Acid, is well-known for its ability to improve the appearance of wrinkling and dark spots. But maintaining its stability and potency over time has always posed a challenge.
Over the last 4 years, MATTER OF FACT’s R&D team has rigorously tested the Actisolv™ technology behind our Brightening + Firming Serum to understand its stability and clinical efficacy over time.
Long-term Stability and Shelf-life
Due to the fragile nature of Vitamin C, it’s always a top-of-mind concern to users how much Vitamin C is left in products they use for extended periods of time. To understand how our Actisolv™ technology performs, we had multiple independent labs test for Vitamin C concentrations of our 20% Vitamin C formula, Brightening + Firming Serum, at both elevated and room temperatures, and demonstrated excellent stability over a 24 month period of time. For example, despite observing a slight darkening of color, we found that 18-month samples stored at room temperature still contained an astonishing 19.56% concentration of Vitamin C!
Clinical Efficacy of Fresh and Aged Product
Perhaps more importantly, we wanted to understand if product near the end of its 2-year shelf-life still retained the significant and visible effects on aging skin we saw in clinical studies performed on fresh product.
Through an independent, third-party lab, we conducted an additional 12-week clinical trial on aged product near the end of its 2-year shelf-life, and observed the same significant and visible improvements in dark spots, skin firmness, and wrinkling.
After 6 weeks
- 100% of participants agreed that skin radiance & the overall appearance of skin was improved
- 97% of participants agreed that skin texture was smoothed
- 94% of participants agreed that skin felt firmer
- 94% of participants agreed that dark spots were less visible
We are honored to share our vitamin C stability and efficacy research with the global skin research community through JID and are grateful to ISID for giving us the opportunity to present it in Tokyo!
